Sonne Technology, Inc. (“Company,” “we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use:
(a) our Write8 Academy marketing website located at:
https://www.write8.academy
(the “Website”), and
(b) our Write8 Academy service, including our Discord server(s), bots, credit purchase flow, and related features (the “Service”).

1. IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT DISCORD (THIRD-PARTY PLATFORM)
The Service may be accessed through Discord.
Discord is not owned or controlled by us. Discord’s own terms, privacy policy,
and settings govern how Discord processes your information.
Depending on channel settings, content you
post in Discord may be visible to others. Do not post personal or sensitive
information in public channels.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect information from: (a) you, (b) your device/browser, (c) Discord (as needed to operate the Service), and (d) payment processors (if you buy Credits).
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account/contact: email address (if you provide it to us).
- Discord identifiers: Discord user ID, Discord nickname/username, and Discord profile photo/avatar (as made available through Discord and your Discord settings).
- Optional billing/contact information (only if you provide it): full name, address, and tax identification number (Tax ID) or similar invoicing/compliance information.
- Support communications: messages you send us (including via email or Discord support channels).
2.2 Content You Submit for Processing (Write8 Academy)
- Essay images/photos/scans you submit (for example, handwriting photos).
- OCR-extracted text and intermediate processing artifacts generated during assessment.
- Outputs generated by the Service, such as text feedback, AI-generated audio/podcasts, and lesson content (including short-form video-style lessons).
2.3 Automatically Collected Information (Website and/or Service)
- Device and usage data, such as IP address, device type, browser type, timestamps, and interaction events (e.g., pages viewed, feature usage).
- Diagnostic and security logs (e.g., error logs, abuse-prevention signals).
2.4 Information from Payment Processors
If you purchase Credits, we may receive transaction details (e.g., package purchased, amount, currency, timestamp, payment status, limited identifiers). We do not typically receive your full payment card number.
3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
3.1 Provide and Operate the Website and Service
- Provide the Discord-based workflow.
- Process your submissions (including OCR) and generate Outputs.
- Provide customer support and respond to inquiries.
3.2 Payments and Accounting
- Process purchases, deliver Credits, provide receipts/invoices, handle taxes, prevent fraud, and maintain accounting records.
3.3 Security, Abuse Prevention, and Compliance
- Protect against abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- Enforce our Terms of Service and Discord server rules.
- Comply with legal obligations and lawful requests.
3.4 Service Improvement / Training (Default; Opt-Out Available)
By default, we may use Content and Outputs for “Service Improvement,” including quality assurance, analytics, evaluation, debugging, safety and abuse prevention, and development of new features. You can opt out (see Section 11). If you opt out, we will stop using future Content/Outputs for Service Improvement, subject to the limited exceptions described in Section 11.
4. HOW WE DISCLOSE INFORMATION
We do not sell personal information for money. We may disclose information as follows:
4.1 Service Providers / Subprocessors
We use vendors to operate the Website and Service. Depending on configuration and over time, these may include:
- Discord (user interface / messaging platform)
- Odoo Cloud (data storage / operational tooling)
- Modal Labs (compute/infrastructure)
- Hugging Face Inference Providers (AI inference processing)
- Payment processors (for credit purchases)
- Analytics/monitoring vendors (if enabled)
These providers process information on our behalf to provide their services.
4.2 Legal, Safety, and Rights Protection
We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to:
- comply with law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request;
- investigate or enforce our Terms of Service;
- detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or
- protect the rights, property, or safety of the Company, our users, or the public.
4.3 Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of some or all assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. SENSITIVE DATA — PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT
Do not submit government ID numbers (including
passport/SSN), financial account numbers, health/medical information,
passwords, authentication credentials, or precise geolocation to the Service.
Do not submit personal data about other people
(e.g., classmates) unless you have permission and a lawful basis.
6. DATA RETENTION
We retain information as long as reasonably
necessary to provide the Website and Service, maintain business records,
resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with law.
The Service may store essay images, OCR text,
intermediate processing artifacts, and Outputs for operational purposes (for
example: generating results, user support, reliability, fraud/abuse prevention,
and Service Improvement unless you opt out). We do not promise immediate or
automatic deletion of all student content, and retention may vary based on
operational and legal requirements.
You may request deletion of certain data by
contacting info@sonne.technology and providing your Discord ID. We may need to
verify your identity and may retain certain information where required or
permitted by law (e.g., for security, fraud prevention, tax/accounting, or
legal compliance).
Content you submit through Discord may also be
stored by Discord under Discord’s policies. Deleting content from Discord may
not delete copies retained by Discord or others.
7. COOKIES AND TRACKING (WEBSITE)
We may use cookies and similar technologies on the Website for:
- essential functionality,
- preferences,
- analytics and performance,
- security.
You can control cookies through browser settings and any cookie controls we may provide. Blocking cookies may affect functionality.
8. SECURITY
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no system is 100% secure.
9. CHILDREN AND TEENS
The Service is not intended for children under
14, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under
14. If you believe a child under 14 provided personal information, contact us
and we will take appropriate steps.
Users ages 14–17 may use the Service only with
Guardian consent as described in the Terms of Service. We encourage Guardians
to supervise minors’ online activity and Discord settings.
10. INTERNATIONAL USERS; CROSS-BORDER TRANSFERS
If you use the Website or Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
11. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS AND CHOICES
You may request access to, correction of, or
deletion of certain personal information by contacting info@sonne.technology.
We may need to verify your identity.
You may opt out of Service Improvement use by
following the opt-out method we make available (for example, an in-product
setting, account setting, or by emailing info@sonne.technology with your
Discord ID). Opt-out applies prospectively. Even after opt-out, we may process
data to provide the Service and for security, fraud prevention, and legal
compliance.
If we send marketing emails, you can opt out
via the unsubscribe link. We may still send non-marketing administrative
messages.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional
rights (e.g., GDPR/UK GDPR rights, or rights under certain U.S. state privacy
laws). We will comply with applicable law.
12. THIRD-PARTY LINKS
The Website or Service may link to third-party sites/services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third parties.
13. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time and will post the updated version with a new Effective Date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice as required by law.
